Liberty Plaza offers self-catered en-suite rooms shared by five or six students. Each flat has a communal lounge/kitchen and bedrooms include four foot or double beds.
For socialising and relaxing with your friends, there's a TV in each lounge and there is also a common room with a communal flat-screen TV, games console, and pool table.
Building work will be ongoing throughout the academic year on a site adjacent to Liberty Plaza which may cause disturbance to residents.
Access and safety
Liberty Plaza accommodation is spread over 10 floors. There are lifts in each block, an entry-phone system and on-site CCTV.

St James Metro station is a short walk away. There are Metro trains every 10 minutes to and from this station, with trains linking to Newcastle International Airport and Newcastle Central Station. Liberty Plaza is within five minutes’ walk of the city centre where there are buses, Metros and trains to all locations.
For bus times and fares refer to the Nexus Travel Line website or contact them by telephone on 0871 200 2233. Calls to this number will cost 10 pence a minute from a landline and considerably more from a mobile.
From Newcastle Central Station you can take the Metro to St James Station. Taxis are also available from the Central Station.
Newcastle International Airport is about seven miles northwest of Newcastle University. A taxi from the Airport will take about 15 minutes, costing approximately £15. You can also travel by Metro (rapid transport system) to St James Station which will take approximately 20–25 minutes.

Liberty Plaza is one of our Managed Partnership residences, owned by Liberty Living. The length and terms of contract differ to that of the University.
The contract is a fixed term period of 43 weeks (22 September 2018 to 20 July 2019) covering the academic year and an additional few weeks. EU and International students will be given a contract for 44 weeks to allow you to attend the International Welcome Programme.
Rents are charged per week. If your contract differs to the standard dates above (i.e. earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges.
All utility bills are included, WiFi is free and they also provide Personal Possessions Insurance via Endsleigh Insurance.

As a UK student you have to pay a deposit in advance of your arrival and the first rent instalment on the day of arrival.
As an EU or International student you must pay a deposit and the whole year's rent by your arrival date, unless you can provide a UK based guarantor which will allow you to pay your rent in three instalments.
If you are allocated a room in Liberty Plaza and accept it whilst holding only a Conditional Firm offer, and are unsuccessful in obtaining a place to study at Newcastle University, your room allocation will be withdrawn and your application cancelled. If you had paid any upfront fees, these will be refunded to you in full, but there may be a small delay in the refund being processed.
Our accommodation is accessible to all and we support students who have particular needs or disabilities
We have three en-suite accessible study-bedrooms with vibrating pillow and fire alarm strobe warning light system. The en-suite has a larger floor space for ease of access to accommodate wheelchair users and is equipped with a fixed shower chair with grab rails located by the shower, toilet and washbasin.
The kitchens are equipped with height adjustable worktops, sink and a low level oven with front facing controls.
