For anyone on a limited budget, St Mary's College is the residence for you. Washbasin rooms are arranged in flats of three to six bedrooms, with all flats having a shared lounge/kitchen/dining area. Many of the flats offer two shower rooms and toilets.
A large communal hall offers full-size snooker and pool tables, table tennis, table football, and a large-screen TV.
Access and safety
Accommodation is spread over four floors with no lift. There is on-site entry-phone systems and CCTV. We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.
A Residences Manager is responsible for residential services as well as welfare and discipline. A Customer Services Manager is responsible for reception services.

St Mary's College is two miles from the main campus and city centre.

Calls to this number will cost 10 pence a minute from a landline and considerably more from a mobile.
From Newcastle Central Station you can take a bus from Westgate Road and Grainger Street near to the Central Station.
Taxis are also available from the Central Station.
Newcastle International Airport is about seven miles northwest of Newcastle University.
A taxi from the airport will take about 15 minutes, costing approximately £15.
You can also travel by Metro (rapid transport system) to Central Station which will take about 30 minutes.
You can then take a bus to Fenham Hall Drive.

Between 16 April and 15 June 2018, St Mary’s residents can travel for free on Stagecoach services 36, 63, 72 and 87, Monday to Sunday between 8am and 8pm. Simply show your smartcard to the driver, who will generate a ‘zero value’ ticket for you for each journey
To travel to the city centre/main University campus for free, use the Fenham Hall Drive/St Mary’s College stop near the Middlewood Park access road.
You can then alight at any of the following stops:
- John Dobson Street
- New Bridge Street (west)
- Blackett Street
- St Thomas Street
- Richardson Road
To travel back to St Mary’s, board at any of the above stops and alight at the Fenham Hall Drive/St Mary’s College stop which you travelled from originally.
Remember that if you try to alight/board at any other stops, you will be asked to pay a travel fare!

St Mary's College is University-Managed accommodation.
The contract is a fixed-term period of 40 weeks (23 September 2018 to 30 June 2019) and covers the duration of the academic year.
Rents are charged per day, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (i.e. earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges at the relevant daily rate.
All utility bills are included, WiFi is free and we also provide personal possessions insurance.

Reception opening times
From 12.00 on Thursday 28 June, the on site reception will be closed for the summer period and will re open at 08.00 on Tuesday 28 August 2018.
Any queries during this closure period should be directed to the Customer Services team at Windsor Terrace.
