In her seminar: 'A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor; trials in rehabilitation research', Professor Drummond will present changes in rehabilitation research and in rehabilitation in recent years. She will illustrate with clinical examples and ways of improving research.

About Professor Drummond

Avril Drummond is Professor of Healthcare Research and Director of Research in the School of Health Sciences, University of Nottingham. She is an occupational therapist with a longstanding interest in rehabilitation research, particularly in stroke. She has published research on clinical services and specific rehabilitation interventions, and has authored over 140 academic papers to date.

Avril is a fellow of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians Intercollegiate Working Party for Stroke, and was recently Chair of the UK Stroke Forum. She is currently Chair of the Life after Stroke group for the Action Plan for Europe, and serves on the executive management board of a local NHS hospital Trust.
