This is an active group which provides opportunities for Newcastle University alumni living in the north of England. It offers socialising and networking through informal and informative lectures and events.

The Society is a constituted organisation managed by a small committee of volunteers. It has a year-round programme of events, including supper lectures at the University, afternoon teas and talks and visits to local places of interest.

Events Programme

Forthcoming events include:

  • Friday, 17 January 2020 – Afternoon tea and talk on Mary Eleanor Bowes by Anthony Atkinson at the County Hotel, Newcastle
  • Tuesday, 17 March 2020 – AGM and talk on the aftermath of the Great War by Professor John Derry followed by a supper buffet in the Herschel building
  • Wednesday, 15 July 2020 – Lunch with a talk at Blagdon Hall, Northumberland

Membership of the Society is open to all alumni of Newcastle University and Kings College Durham.
