NCL Professional Network: Strategies for Sustainability

Join us for this thought-provoking NCL Professional Network breakfast on the topic of 'Strategies for Sustainability'

Date/Time: Thursday, 5 December 2019, 8.00 - 9.00

Venue: Oak Café, Barker and Stonehouse, Strawberry Buildings, Leazes Park Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4PQ

This year the United Nations warned that we could have just 11 years left to limit a climate change catastrophe. Both Newcastle University staff and alumni are actively working to help build a sustainable future; join us to hear from our host and alumnus James Barker, Managing Director of Barker and Stonehouse, about their Trees4Trees sustainable forestry initiative. James will be joined by Professor Hayley Fowler, Professor of Climate Change Impacts who will be talking to us about her important research in the field of climate change.

Newcastle University has been praised for its commitment to tackling climate change, awarded best University in the UK for ‘climate action’ and ranked 7th globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2019 for responsible consumption and production. Through events like this we want to offer a platform for debate and action. Come along to listen, chat and get stuck right into this current hot topic over coffee and pastries. We hope you will join us.
