Origins and Endings: Research at the Cutting Edge

Join us for one or both of these sessions in which Newcastle University doctoral students will present the very newest research

Date/Time: 22 November 2018 10:30 - 12:00

Venue: Joseph Cowen Lifelong Learning Centre, 4th floor, Commercial Union House, Pilgrim Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 6QE

In each of these two sessions, two of the best and brightest doctoral students from Newcastle University will present their research, organised around the theme of ‘Origins and Endings’. Short presentations will be followed by discussion with the audience. The research on display will range widely across the history and culture of the Tyne Valley, taking us from its source to the sea. Come to hear, for example, about the North-East’s WW2 Blitz, and Newcastle’s chilling contribution to understanding the effects of nuclear war.

This event is hosted in partnership with the Joseph Cowen Lifelong Learning Centre, forming part of the ‘Culture and Society’ strand of the ‘Explore’ lifelong learning programme of talks and courses organised by JCLLC. Free event, no booking required.
