‘My time at Newcastle gave me an excellent foundation to build upon, ” says Anna.
Interested in a qualification that combined her interest in business and languages, Anna opted for a degree in International Business Management, with a year studying at L’Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Provence, France.
Her dissertation focussed on the media – exploring organisational structures and corporate psychology within companies – a topic that she would live and breathe throughout her career.
In 2000 she took on a managerial position in marketing at Emap, where she helped to launch Grazia magazine. From there she joined Hachette Filipacchi - then part of leading French media company, Lagardère - as marketing director, before becoming its digital director in 2008.
Anna was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Hearst Magazines UK in September 2011, when Hachette merged with Nat Mags as part of US publisher Hearst’s €651m acquisition of Lagardère’s international magazine business. In 2014, she was promoted to CEO. She stepped down from Hearst in 2017 to form AllBright, a funding platform and academy for female-led businesses.
