Lisa Eva Nandy is a British Labour Party politician. She has been the Member of Parliament for Wigan since 2010, having served under Jeremy Corbyn as Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change from September 2015 until June 2016. Preceding this, she had served as the Shadow Minister for Children and then the Shadow Minister for Charities.
Lisa graduated from Newcastle University in 2001 with a degree in Politics and went on to work for the Labour MP Neil Gerrard MP, specialising in housing and homelessness. She worked in the voluntary sector, as a researcher at the homelessness charity Centrepoint from 2003 to 2005, and then as senior policy adviser at The Children's Society from 2005, where she specialised in issues facing young refugees, also acting as adviser to the Children's Commissioner for England and to the Independent Asylum Commission.
Since being elected Lisa has campaigned in Parliament to tackle child abuse, to save the Education Maintenance Allowance and against human rights abuses in Palestine. She has fought against low pay and zero hours contracts and campaigned against growing poverty in Wigan and across the country.
