Chris, an experienced public speaker and commentator in the media, will discuss his dedication to levelling up the region, as well as the key leadership qualities he practices in both his work as founder and CEO of the not-for-profit organisation, the Materials Processing Institute, and his position as Chair at Redhills Charity, a community enterprise based in Durham.This event is free and lunch will be provided.
About the Speaker: Chris McDonald, FREng
Chris is the CEO of the Materials Processing Institute, a not-for-profit innovation centre based in North East England, which he founded in 2014. Chris’s background is in the steel sector, and he is a regular media contributor on issues affecting industry, manufacturing and industrial policy more widely.
Chris is dedicated to improving the life opportunities for people from low socio-economic backgrounds, like his own. He is the Chair and founding trustee of the Redhills Charity, which works to improve aspiration and life opportunities for people in County Durham and he has set up several scholarship programmes to support young people.
