Newcastle University Alumni Weekend 2019

On Friday 11 October – Sunday 13 October, Newcastle University Alumni Weekend brought together University alumni, University staff and students.

The Weekend offered a programme of events and activities including the virtual #NCL5K, where participants got involved by taking part in 5K run, bike rideice skate, the list was endless, and posted their pictures on social media. We also enjoyed alumni socials, reunions; discussions on being a female leader, healthy brain ageing and the hot topic on everyone’s lips – BrexitIt was a family-friendly event for all including tours of Hatton Gallery, St James’ Park and of course a step into the depths of the oceans, with an interactive event looking at the effects of plastics in our oceans and the impact on marine life. Families were able to explore the latest drone tech and take a virtual tour around the plastic labs as well as view a hologram. 

It was great success and full of excitementDuring the weekend we held the 62nd Meeting of Convocation where a new Chair of Convocation was announced for the next five years – view our Convocation article for more detailed information.
