A New Kind of Suburbia

‌Dhruv Sookhoo, Visiting Lecturer within the School, is contributing to a practice-based research project exploring intended to initiate a conversation about the current character and future potential of one of the most taken-for-granted forms of residential development: suburbia. The exhibition (16 May 2019- 17 July 2019) and event series aim to promote dialogue between designers, developers and policy makers to inform Metropolitan Workshop’s long-term thinking on suburban placemaking, and offer an opportunity to reflect on the studio’s past and current practice.

The exhibition displays the latest residential work of the practice for developers such as Urban Splash, Nationwide and Engie, and features complementary contributions by leading residential practices, including: Sarah Wigglesworth Architects, Proctor Matthews Architects, Studio Partington and Levitt Bernstein.  The exhibition featured in the Clerkenwell Design Week (21-23 May) and will be open to the public as part of Studio Lates at the London Festival of Architecture (07 June 2019).
