Design Suffolk: Realizing Residential Design Quality through Proactive Planning

Dhurv Sookhoo will explore what it means to practice ‘proactive planning’, in policy and practice at the event on 25 February

Dhruv Sookhoo, Visiting Lecturer and NINE DTP Doctoral Candidate, has been invited by Design Suffolk and Design South East to contribute to their first masterclass exploring how design quality can be achieved through a more proactive planning process.  His session will draw on insight from his doctoral research which explores architects’ perspectives on the achieving design quality through the planning process. The masterclass is part of an event series to support planners, elected members and design group stakeholders to better foster design quality through the planning process, particularly in relation to delivering better quality housing.

The event will be attended by Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, and local authorities covering planning in East, West and Mid Suffolk.  Other speakers, include: Amy Burbidge (Design Action Manager, North Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit) and Anna Rose (Head of the Planning Advisory Service, LGA).
