Optimising London’s housing sites for quality of life

Dhruv Sookhoo, Visiting Lecturer within the School, has been invited by Mæ’s to join their consultant team preparing the new Housing Supplementary Planning Guidance to the new London Plan

The guidance has been commissioned by the Greater London Authority to support the capital’s Good Growth agenda by providing a toolkit for design-led capacity assessment.  This will support local authority planners, housing developers and their design teams, to optimise the use of available land to support quality of life through design quality, rather than simply maximising residential density.

are an award-winning practice of architects, urban designers and researchers headed by Alex Ely, who was responsible for much of the original, pioneering London Housing Design Guide produced for the Mayor of London in 2010.
