Undergraduate Architecture student Emily Birch wins commendation for her research project

An undergraduate architecture student, Emily Birch, has received a "Highly Commended" prize for her research project Active Origami. Emily participated in the University Research Scholarship programme and has been awarded the winning prize for her poster depicting the project.

Her project focused on developing a methodology for Bacillus subtilis hygromorphic bilayers with a latex substrate and suggested how this could translate into an architectural application. Emily worked in the biotech laboratory and was supervised by Dr Martyn Dade-Robertson.

Further details of the project can be read on the Blog post.
