Obituary to Sir William Whitfield in The Guardian

William Whitfield, architect and planner, born 21 October 1920; died 17 March 2019

"The architectural career of William Whitfield, who has died aged 98, ranged from the concrete assertiveness of new brutalism to a new Palladian mansion that won plaudits from traditionalists. The office he founded in 1952 and led as principal for more than six decades developed a design approach that brought together different ideas and styles, not as compromise, but synthesis."

Roland Jeffery writes a fitting obituary to Sir William Whitfield in The Guardian, Whitfield was a double graduate of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape and designer of the Hadrian Building on campus (formerly known as the King's Road Centre).
