Undergraduate students take in sights on Tyne Cruise

First year students from Urban Planning and Geography and Planning got acquainted with the landmarks and standout buildings along the Tyne during a river cruise in Freshers’ Week.

The cruise left Newcastle Quayside and travelled along the Tyne passing the legendary shipyards of Tyneside, the International Ferry Terminals, the Port of Tyne, the Fish Quay, beautiful views of the river mouth, right up to Tynemouth Castle and Priory before stopping off at South Shields. The journey gave the opportunity for new students to get to grips with the development and design of the built environment of Newcastle and surrounding areas.
