Staff Profile
Claire Heron
Project Manager
Background
I am a senior project manager and business founder with over 20 years’ experience in delivering regional and national multi-stakeholder initiatives.
My expertise is in transforming ideas and concepts into deliverable programmes which achieve stakeholder objectives and have a positive impact on society.
In recent years I have focussed on fulfilling these aims in the field of academic research, specifically through my management of the £8.5M Research England-funded E3 Hub for Biotechnology in the Built Environment (HBBE) and the £8M MRC-EPSRC Molecular Pathology Node. My role involves guiding key project relationships and providing assurance, guidance and best practice expertise to senior academic and professional stakeholders. I am also responsible for compliance with funder contractual terms and conditions by managing financial and risk performance, long term sustainability planning, and KPI and milestone reporting.
Before this, I worked in the University's IT department to establish their Project Management Office and with the University's senior leadership team to transform their corporate governance structures, alongside managing a number of business critical projects. Prior to this, I was a project manager within several multi-million pound economic regeneration programmes across the region, leading projects within local authorities and national government agencies focussed on improving the economic prosperity of the North East community.
