Staff Profile

Ed Robinson

Technical Support Officer

Background

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2014 from the Fine Art course where I specialised in sculpture. Since then I have held a number of technician jobs around the North East, working in galleries and museums, and spent most of 2018 working in the APL workshop.

I have worked for a number of established contemporary artists as a studio and project assistant, and over that time have developed a keen interest in many fabrication processes and techniques. I am a current studio holder of the Newbridge Project, an artist run organisation in central Newcastle, which I have been involved with for over 8 years.

I am currently training to be a permaculture instructor and designer and am very interested in how intelligent design can be applied to various large scale modern day issues.

I was appointed to my current role of Technical Support Officer in August 2019, as part of the Hub for Biotechnology in the Built Environment research project.
