So asks renowned feminist Beatrix Campbell who argues that we need to reclaim the optimistic politics of feminism to reimagine a more ambitious revolution in thinking and acting upon equality and against austerity. She draws on four decades of observing society – from neglected corners of Tyneside to collaboration with Southall Black Sisters – looking at countries and situations where patriarchy thrives and resistance and feminism flourish. Recognising that the global is always also local, she articulates a radical public geography for the future.
