About the event:
As part of National Carer’s Week, Kelechi Dibie will be delivering to NU Women an interactive carer awareness session, which will help to highlight the needs of unpaid carers who work at Newcastle University. Alongside the session we will have a number of stalls from organisations who provide support to those with caring roles.

About Kelechi Dibie:
In her role as Equality and Diversity Project Officer, Kelechi supports all the Schools not just to develop and embed an EDI (Equality Diversity & Inclusion) agenda that embraces all activities, policies, decision-making and governance arrangements but also find creative solutions to day-to-day EDI issues. She also engages with and supports all HaSS Schools that are applying for recognition under the Athena-SWAN Charter. Kelechi’s career experience spans across local government; adult & children's social care; voluntary and community sectors, where she has had unique opportunities to work with diverse groups of service users of all ages including borough residents from a wide range of backgrounds; stakeholders from multiagency partnerships; and various community networks across the North East. Her past client portfolio includes people with various forms and varying degrees of disabilities; looked-after children; the deaf community; older people; unpaid carers; older people with dementia; social care professionals; GPs and various healthcare professionals. 10 years of her career was spent working with unpaid carers in two separate North East Carer Support agencies.
