Newcastle University and Athena SWAN

Talk by Dean of Diversity, Professor Judith Rankin

Date/Time: Tuesday, 23rd February 2016, 12:15 - 13:15

Venue: Room 2:21, Research Beehive

Athena SWAN awards recognise the commitment and work that universities do towards the advancement of gender equality. Until now, the scheme has focused on advancing the careers of women in the sciences, but the scheme has now widened to include all subject areas, and also professional and support service staff. The Athena SWAN scheme now covers all staff across the University.

Newcastle University received its Athena SWAN Bronze Award in 2009, and has applied for a Silver Award. In this talk, our new Dean for Diversity, Judith Rankin, will talk about Athena SWAN at Newcastle University, including the University’s ambition and plans for the future.

This is an opportunity to hear about how Athena SWAN is supporting women’s careers, and discuss future challenges with our new Dean.

The talk will be followed by a networking lunch 13:15 - 14:00.

Please sign up using the following booking form by Tuesday 16th February.
