BEWISe Biological Engineering: Wastewater Innovation at Scale


Media Launch Event Wednesday 23rd June 2021

The media launch will take place on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 and will provide an opportunity to showcase the equipment that has been designed and installed at Birtley Water Treatment Works, which is available to academia and industry to expand their research knowledge and expertise. 

Heidi Mottram (CEO, Northumbrian Water) will lead the talks with Chris Jones (R&D, Northumbrian Water) highlighting the relationship between Newcastle University and Northumbrian Water.  Prof Tom Curtis and Prof David Werner will also discuss the importance of developing water treatment research and opportunities that have resulted.

BEWISe Academic and Stakeholder Launch Event Summer 2021


There will be a launch event later in the year which will give the opportunity for stakeholders from academia and industry to talk to the facility management team and take part in a virtual tour of the site.

The event will showcase the state of the art equipment and provide information about how to apply to use the facility. When social distancing restrictions are lifted, there will also be a launch on site where visitors can see equipment in use.
