Newcastle University Business School has once more joined the ranks of the global elite after receiving accreditation from one of the world’s leading business education bodies.

A triple accredited business school

The School has received continued accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The School has already been given the stamp of approval by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and since 1988, has been endorsed by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) for the high quality of its MBA programme.

This latest accreditation means that the Business School is among the handful of Business Schools worldwide that hold the ‘triple crown’.

Professor Sharon Mavin, Director of Newcastle University Business School, said: “I am delighted that we continue to have accreditation from AACSB. Our world-leading research explores the issues facing the future of work, and we reflect this in our teaching, giving our students the skills and knowledge they need to not only become global business leaders of the future but to make a positive impact on society."

A rigorous process

Achieving accreditation is a rigorous process involving engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer-reviewed evaluation. During this period, business schools focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.

Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International, said: “AACSB congratulates Newcastle University Business School and Professor Mavin on extending accreditation.

This accreditation is a strong endorsement of the exceptional quality of our staff and students and I’m proud of their hard work and commitment in keeping our place as one of the world’s top Business Schools.

Professor Sharon Mavin, Director of Newcastle University Business School

"The intense peer-review process confirms a school’s continued focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning. Newcastle University’s dedication to delivering high-quality business education will create the next generation of great leaders.”
