Student Volunteering
Student Volunteering
Gain experience and knowledge outside of the lecture theatre through voluntary work.
If you volunteer through the Students' Union – either within the Union’s volunteering opportunities or with external charities – this route will help you to recognise and analyse the graduate skills that you use.
To take part, you must be volunteering in a placement approved by the Students' Union before you start the module, and you must confirm your choice of placement with your personal tutor or degree programme director.
To help you find a volunteering placement, go to:
- Newcastle University Students’ Union – choose from their list of pre-arranged placements or browse placements by organisation or category
- Careers Service: Volunteering – advice and links to sources of voluntary opportunities
If you are already volunteering, eg in a committee role for a club/society, you must email the Students' Union to confirm your placement and to be assigned a placement supervisor before you start the module.
