Being able to measure how the body handles certain micronutrients and trace elements and consequently total body exposure at different points in the life course is essential.

We currently investigate:

  • the usefulness of the tooth as a biomarker for micronutrient exposure in utero and early life
  • intake and excretion of fluoride, using gold standard methods and by developing new techniques
  • micronutrient homeostasis at a cellular level and relationship to dental history and oral disease experience
