Combined Honours

Find induction procedures and resources for Combined Honours students.

There's lots of useful information about your course and University life for students before you arrive. You will be sent a link to the Pre-arrival website, which has a wealth of helpful information about starting, or returning to Newcastle.

We have inductions for all our Combined Honours students each year including events and support for those entering Stage 1 and Stages 2 and Stage 3.

Stage 1

There is a comprehensive induction process for new Combined Honours students. Find out about the 2017 induction process for Stage 1 students.

There are two types of events you will need to attend; a main social induction and an academic induction.

As part of your induction you'll sign up for your chosen modules.

Please read the Stage 1 Combined Honours Induction Timetable 2017 before you arrive.

Subject inductions

There will be an opportunity to meet our Subject Advisors during the academic induction who will advise you about module choices. Some subject areas will deliver additional sessions (e.g. study skills sessions or tours of facilities).

Processes of support for induction

We see the first semester as a transition and induction period.

Key people to support you during this period include:

  • Your Student Mentor, who will introduce themselves in your induction pack.
  • Your Personal Tutor, who will organise a meeting with you in the first three weeks.
  • Colin Bryson, your Degree Programme Director.
  • Sarah Graham, your Senior Tutor.
  • The Combined Honours Centre staff.
  • Your Subject Advisors.
