*Important notes about field trip modules:

In addition to the Stage 2 modules listed above, and for Combined Honours students who study Geography in a Major (80 credits) or a Joint (60 credits) weighting, there will be 20 credit overseas field course modules available during Semester 2 which involve an overseas field trip during the Easter vacation (March/April 2020).   These modules are not available to Combined Honours students who study Geography in a Minor (40 credits) weighting.  Please note that places on all overseas field trip modules are capped at 30.  There is an (uncapped) fieldtrip based in the North East of England.

With regard to financing a fieldtrip, all fieldtrips are subsidised.  For some (European) fieldtrips this covers all expenses.  For long-haul fieldtrips, students will be asked to pay for some items (e.g. travel).

Students who wish to take an overseas fieldtrip module in 2019/20 need to:

a) indicate their preference of fieldtrip location using the web form https://forms.ncl.ac.uk/view.php?id=9275 This web form will be open from 30th April 2019 and close at 5.00pm on Wednesday 8th May 2019.   Students are to pick their top three choices, making sure they are going to take the necessary co-requisite modules (listed below).  Allocation is random so there is no advantage to either early or late sign-up, as long as you do it by the deadline of 5.00pm on 8th May.  You can list a friend who you want to be paired with on the trip (Geography will do their best to put you on the same trip but limits on numbers mean they cannot guarantee this), and then

b) use the ‘dummy’ code of GEO2222 during module pre-registration via S3P (between 9th and 15th May 2019).

All fieldtrips are capped at 30, if more than 30 students express an interest then places will be allocated randomly, with some students moved to their second choice.
