Newcastle University student team wins DXC Hack-IT event

Students demonstrate their skills in working with Amazon Web Services.

Congratulations to School of Computing students Ben Harris, Michael Dono, Harry Tran and Nathan Thompson for winning the recent the DXC Hack-IT event. DXC Technologies is the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company. They hosted this event at their Newcastle office.

Two teams from Newcastle University competed against teams from Northumbria and Sunderland Universities. The teams followed Agile methodology to meet a brief set by Autism Together. The winning team transferred the many skills developed throughout their course to work with Amazon Web Services. They presented their solution to a panel of judges.

The School of Computing has excellent links with employers. We offers students a great range of opportunities to develop their employability and put their skills into ‘real-life’ projects. These employability opportunities include guest lectures from employers, mock interviews, mock assessment centres, coding challenges and an employability week in Semester 1.
