USB one of the Top 10 architectural landmarks in Great Exhibition of the North

As part of the Great Exhibition of the North, construction industry specialist NBS will be staging a Future Buildings exhibition to showcase some of the exceptional architectural work in the region.

The Urban Sciences Building, designed by Hawkins/Brown, is one of 10 buildings that NBS has identified as the region’s best modern buildings.

The 10 landmarks will be plotted on a map of the region, and with the use of an iPad each building will be brought to life in a 3D model that visitors will be able to move around and view the project in 360 degrees.

NBS’s Future Buildings Exhibition will be based at their premises at The Old Post Office.

The NBS Exhibition features in the Great Exhibition of the North’s Innovation Trail.

Exploring venues that epitomise the innovative spirit of the North, the trail includes the Newcastle Helix site - formerly Science Central - home to the Urban Sciences Building itself.

Newcastle Helix is a £350million flagship project bringing together academia, communities, business, industry and the public sector.

This unique site is a testbed for innovative technologies and solutions that will tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing cities around the world, such as flooding, resilient infrastructure and energy.

Drawing on the expertise of key industry partners such as SiemensMicrosoft and Northumbrian Water, the aim is for Newcastle Helix to improve the lives of people not just in Newcastle, but all over the world.
