School of Computing

Postgraduate Study

We aim to help you thrive in a dynamic environment. Our fundamental computing science research is extended through application to industrial and interdisciplinary challenges.

Your postgraduate degree

We offer postgraduate research degrees and taught programmes.

You'll be based in the School, but will benefit from selected teaching and supervision by staff from different parts of the University. This ensures high-quality input for interdisciplinary work. It also adds to the opportunities for project work with industrial partners.

As a postgraduate student, you will enjoy access to dedicated PC clusters running Windows and Linux and personal workspaces reserved for research students.

Your research

Postgraduate research makes a crucial contribution to the School. We endeavour to provide an environment where exciting new ideas can be germinated, developed, and tested.

You'll participate in world-class research, produce acclaimed publications, and work with esteemed experts in the field.

A majority of student projects take place within our internationally-recognised research groups.

Centres for Doctoral Training

We are one of very few UK universities with two EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in computer science.  Together these two training centres will offer more than 100 PhD scholarships until 2019.
