Pedro Marques

Pedro Marques is a research fellow at INGENIO, a research centre located in Valencia (Spain) specialised on innovation and science. INGENIO is a joint research institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV).

Pedro is currently working on a Research Project investigating innovation dynamics in firms located in peripheral regions of Spain and Portugal. This Project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. In 2018 he was awarded the 5-year research fellowship Ramon y Cajal.

Pedro has worked as a Research associate at Newcastle University (UK), the University of Kiel (Germany), Cardiff University (UK) and the University of Sussex (UK). He has a BA in Sociology from ISCTE-IUL in Lisbon, Portugal and an MA and PhD from CURDS, Newcastle University.  His research interests are in regional development, inequality, politics and development, and innovation.
