Outreach and Collaboration

Within Speech and Language Sciences we engage with many individuals and groups with a focus on research and are always happy to explore new collaborations. We are keen that our research addresses important questions, and this is done best when we work in partnership.

Some of the ways we do this include

  • Working with SLT services to develop research capacity and partnership working. Read about the North East SLT Research Collaboration here.
  • Involvement with the Research Excellence Network, including hosting the North East SLT Research Symposium, which celebrates the innovative, excellent research work in the region focused around speech and language therapy
  • Hosting or participating in Clinical Excellence Network and special interest study groups. These include the Motor Speech CEN and the Aphasia Study Group
  • Working directly with service users. We have strong links with people with aphasia, both through the North East Trust for Aphasia but particularly working with the Aphasia Research User Group (ARUG)

The North East Speech and Language Therapy Research Symposium is due to be held on July 10, to learn more information about this year's event, click here
