Abstract: Speech and oromotor impairments are seen across a range of paediatric neurological conditions, including traumatic brain injury, preterm birth, stroke and cerebral palsy. In the past decades, advances in MRI analysis have allowed to gain understanding of the brain correlates of these disorders.

I will present an overview of my work showing common MRI changes in children with dysarthria and oromotor impairments, irrespective of aetiology. These changes are observed within specific speech networks. We hope that, in the future, examining these MRI markers will allow us to prognosticate communication outcomes early in children with neurological conditions.
