There are number of funding options for PGCE and postgraduate study within the School.
PGCE scholarships
PGCE scholarshipsAlumni discount
Newcastle University gives its graduates a 20% discount.
It's applicable if you decide to apply for Newcastle PGCE / PGCE School Direct programmes. Find more information on specific programmes:
Besides the 20% alumni fee discount for our graduates, you may be able to apply for a Government bursary (see the tabe below for details).

1. Bursaries and scholarships are available to trainees on a tuition fee-based teacher training course in England that leads to the award of qualified teacher status. Availability is dependent on your highest relevant academic award and the subject in which you are training to teach. Further details on Bursary are available on the education website. |

2. Bursaries are available to trainees with a first, 2:1, 2:2, Master’s or PhD. |

3. Trainees in chemistry, computing, maths and physics are able to apply for a teacher training scholarship with the appropriate professional body. Scholarships are awarded in place of a bursary. Each of the professional scholarship bodies sets its own eligibility criteria - find out more on the dedicated scholarship pages. Scholarships are awarded in place of a bursary. |

International studentsAlumni discount
You may be eligible for a 20% reduction in postgraduate fees if you are Newcastle alumni.
International Family Discounts
Relatives of current international students or past international graduates could get a 10% discount.
Studentships in Social Sciences
Studentships in Social SciencesYou can win an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) North East Doctoral Training Centre studentship in social sciences.
This is a popular competition. You should engage early with the School and with prospective supervisors.
We want to hear from people in the UK or European Union who have an interesting idea for a doctoral project. Check our research pages for themes and staff interests that might suit you.
