Discovering Children’s Books

Newcastle University's Children’s Literature Unit have collaborated with the British Library to launch a new online resource, Discovering Children’s Books.

Discovering Children’s Books is an impressive suite of digital images, essays and activities designed for children and schools. It is the fruit of work that the Children’s Literature Unit has been doing with the British Library, Seven Stories and other institutions over a number of years, beginning with a ‘Knowledge Exchange Workshops’ to help the BL design its new offering.

Various themes are covered including:

  • fear
  • home and belonging
  • magic and fantasy
  • changing the world

The site features essays by our very own Emily Murphy, Karen Sand-O’Connor, Kim Reynolds, Lucy Pearson and Matthew Grenby, written in conjunction with prominent authors like Patrice Lawrence, Michael Rosen, Farrah Serroukh and Andy Stanton.
