Applications for The Student Leadership Programme is now open!

Are you passionate about the School of English? Looking for work experience that fits around your studies?

The School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics are looking for energetic and ambitious students from the school to help on a range of student-focused tasks across the year. If you join the programme, you'd be asked to help with the following kinds of work, paid for your time and have expenses covered:

  • Induction week assistance for the school office
  • Open and Visit Days
  • Help with major public events run by the school (ushering, ticketing, administrative support etc.)

Of course, there would be no expectation that you worked on every single event and we would always be working to find ways to fit this around your studies.

To be successful, you'll need to be confident, reliable and self-motivated. You will have food communication skills and a clear understanding of how our degrees work and the strengths of Newcastle University. Experience of working in customer service or marketing is desirable but not essential.

This is a great opportunity to gain customer service and marketing experience, in a role that fits around your studies. Hours worked in this role can also be used as part of an ncl+ award application, which recognises your extracurricular activities on your Higher Education Acheivement Report (HEAR), as well as with a certificate and en electronic badge on your LinkedIn Profile.

Application Deadline: Tuesday 15th October 2019

How to apply: Please send a 1 page CV (Microsoft Word format) and covering email of no more than 300 words in length addressed to Dr James Annesley. In your covering email, you should outline your skills and experience, explain why you want to join the programme and what you'll bring to it.

Applications and queries should be sent to by the deadline.
