Recent visiting scholars have included Leverhulme Visiting Professors:

  • Gary Kelly (Alberta)
  • Udaya Kumar (Dehli)
  • Donna Jo Napoli (Swathmore)
  • Somali novelist Nuruddin Farah
  • Stephanie Newell

Additionally, Andrea Immel (curator of the Cotsen Children's Library, Princeton) was Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Visiting Fellow.

Visiting scholar programme

The visiting scholar programme is aimed at scholars who have already received their PhD or are established creative writers.

It is for those who would like to collaborate with named members of staff to develop research, teaching or entrepreneurial projects, and to make use of resources including our archival collections.

We welcome applications from early career researchers with the potential to be future leaders in their fields, as well as established academics.

Applicants should be employed by a university outside the UK for the entirety of the visit.

Individuals considering applying to be a visitor are encouraged to directly approach the person or people who they wish to collaborate with before applying.

Application forms and further information is available on the People Services website.
