Undergraduate 9-12 Month Placements

Undergraduate 9-12 month placements

Recruit and work with Newcastle University students through a 9 - 12 month placement.

Mentoring Masthead

At Newcastle University, we recognise not only the impact that a placement can have on a student but also what students can do for a business over the course of a 9-12 month placement. This is why all undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake an optional placement year after the penultimate year of their degree.

In recent years, placements have become a key part of the graduate recruitment process with employers looking to their placement students as their future talent pool.  The placement year can become a year-long interview process with students aware of this and keen to impress and make an impact.

Newcastle University Careers Service supports and manages a placement year for students from the majority of schools across the University.  We also work to support schools who maintain their own placements provision.

How can we help

We can help you discuss your requirements, whether you're new to placement years and aren't sure how they might work for your business, or if you haven't worked with Newcastle University before.

You can advertise your vacancies with us – register via the employer portal and then manage your vacancies throughout your recruitment campaigns.

We can also offer support to help raise your profile on campus.

Further information

We’re happy to chat through the whole process and help you understand how a Newcastle University student could impact your business.  For further information, please contact Lesley Wilson, Student Employment and Placements Manager.
