An introduction to water and sanitation in humanitarian response

Speaker: Tessa Gough (Newcastle University)

Date/Time: Monday 3 December 2018; 13:00-14:00

Venue: Cassie Building Room 2.33

Tessa graduated from Newcastle University with an MSc degree in Environmental Engineering in 2008. Since then she has been applying that knowledge working around the world, following some of the biggest natural disasters and conflicts. Tessa’s presentation will give an introduction to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in Emergencies. It will cover some of the fundamentals of responding to major disasters, including who does what, and who foots the bill. The presentation will look at some examples of providing WASH services in challenging conditions from deserts to the tropics, and how to get involved (if you haven’t been put off by the presentation). Everyone is welcome, and questions are encouraged.
