PhD student's article in 200th edition of IoW magazine

Harry Laing is using Big Data to optimise biogas use.

Harry Laing is a STREAM Cohort IX PhD student at Newcastle University, working with Northumbrian Water. He wrote a brief case study included in the feature on Energy Efficiency in the 200th edition of the Institute of Water magazine.

The case study looked at why the Digital Revolution should be embraced and how digital plant data can be used for optimisation. Harry described the strategy he used to optimise biogas use in the Advanced Anaerobic Digestion facility of a wastewater treatment plant.

Harry also won the poster competition at the Wastewater Network Conference held on Wednesday 28 November 2018. His poster provided a brief summary of two projects he has undertaken with Northumbrian Water.
