Lijuan Xia: Postgraduate Researcher  - µSystems - Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Lijuan graduated with:

  • BSc (Hons) Electrical and Electronics Engineering(2013)
    • Nanjing Forestry University, China
  • MSc Wireless Embedded Systems(2014)
    • Newcastle University

She is completing her PhD in Biomedical Engineering under the supervision of Dr Patrick Degenaar and Professor Andrew Jackson within the Neuroprosthetic Lab. She has funding from Newcastle University SAgE Doctoral Training Awards scheme and the Newcastle University Overseas Research Scholarship.

Lijuan is responsible for the algorithm design and hardware implementation within the flagship CANDO project. Her research lies in the field of biomedical control systems, with a particular focus in the design of low power flash FPGA design of closed-loop algorithms for biomedical application.

Her other research interests include:

  • wearable and implantable control systems
  • closed-loop control algorithms for seizure suppression
  • low power brain machine interfaces.

She is currently a member of the IET and the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.
