Research Theme: Infrastructure

Our research in Infrastructure addresses challenges including energy systems, flood mitigation, electric vehicles and measuring our environment.

We are part of the £30m InTEGReL project

By bringing together a broad range of staff and facilities, the infrastructure theme addresses some of the biggest challenges facing society around the world.

Our expertise is drawn from a wide range of engineers and scientists, assuring broad contextual understanding of possibilities, constraints and influences. By combining technical excellence with social and economic understanding, we tackle infrastructure research in an innovative and interdisciplinary way.

We have particular strengths in developing and deploying test bed infrastructure for informing infrastructure design and operation. Our energy laboratories, at-scale urban infrastructure schemes and work with electric vehicle infrastructure are key to taking experimental environments to launch and operation around the world.
