Joint Research in Urban Sustainability

Waste management often lags behind economic growth in emerging countries, leaving peripheral communuities without adequate wastewater treatment, poor water quality, and increased exposure to infectious disease. We have developed a novel, new low-energy waste treatment technology that removes carbon, nutrients and also pathogens, and has the potential to improve water quality and community health in emerging countries around the world. This project aims to refine this technology, set-up a field-trial, and initiate community health assessments of improved water quality.
