Staff Profile

Dr Alex Hudson

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Background

I received my Bachelor's degree (2011) from McMaster University in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. I continued there to begin working on my Masters degree, which I then transferred to the PhD program and obtained my PhD (2018) in Dr. Kalai Saravanamuttu's lab. My PhD studies involved the novel interactions between incoherent light and photpolymerizable systems with different physical properties. Upon completion of my PhD, I began work as a post doctoral researcher with Dr. Marloes Peeters at Manchester Metropolitan University (2018), working on thermal biosensors for the detection of antibiotic resistant bacteria. In July 2019, I transferred to Newcastle University to continue work in the Peeters group.
