Dr Marcos Santos

Research Associate

Background

I am a Research Associate with the School of Engineering and member of the Electrical Power Research Group. Currently, I am working on the MERLON project, developing tools for reliability assessment and forecasting applied to active distribution networks.

I received my B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering from Western Parana State University (UNIOESTE - Brazil) in 2010.  Also, I received my M.Sc and D.Phil. (PhD) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Itajuba (UNIFEI - Brazil) in 2013 and 2018, respectively. During my MSc and PhD, I held scholarships from CAPES, CNPq and FAPEPE. 

My research interests are related to: Electric Power Systems, Control and Stability of Power Systems, Static/Dynamic modelling and analysis, Renewable Energy Sources, Application of Artificial Intelligence, and Reliability analysis. 

Teaching

From 2017 to 2019, I held a Temporary Lecturer position with the Electrical Engineering Department at Federal University of Technology - Parana (Brazil), where I was responsible for different modules as:

  • Introduction to Electric Circuits
  • Industrial Electrical Systems
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Protection of Power Systems
  • Artificial Intelligence applied in Power Systems
