Research

Dr Das' primary research interests span the broad area of sustainable energy technologies with a particular focus on the thermo-fluid aspects of Li-ion batteries, fuel cells, redox flow batteries, and solar-fuel generators. He utilises a synergistic combination of advanced experimental characterisation and diagnostics together with multi-physics mathematical modelling and computer simulation for linking fundamental science to the design and development of better performing and robust energy devices and identify a direction for cost-effective materials for these systems.

The aim of Dr Das' current research is to tackle the technical obstacles to the recycling and re-use of vehicle battery packs and the widespread adoption of fuel cell vehicles. The challenges he is tackling include fast charging, thermal safety, recycling and reuse of vehicle battery packs, durability, cost, and water and thermal transport in fuel cells for vehicle and drone applications, and high-fidelity multi-scale modelling of battery packs and fuel cell stacks. He's also interested in fundamental studies in the areas of nature-inspired thermal transportconvective heat transfer, and nanofluids. Dr Das has given a number of invited talks and lectures at universities and international conferences on the topics of Li-ion batteries, fuel cells, convective heat transfer and microfluidics. He has served as a reviewer for leading journals, conference session chair, and symposium organiser. Currently, Dr Das serves as Editorial Board Members of two journals, Energies and Inventions, and Advisory Board of Challenges as well as serving as Guest Editor for a special issue of Energies on Advanced Energy Materials and Research, Associate Editor for Frontiers in Energy Research - Fuel Cells.

Dr Das has an excellent publishing record that includes 100 scientific publications and 2 book chapters. According to Google Scholar, the total number of Dr Das' citation is over 2200 with an associated h-index of 22.
