Dr Victor Pacheco Pena

Dr. Victor Pacheco-Peña is a Newcastle University Research Fellow working with the Emerging Technologies and Materials Group (ETM), School of Engineering. Additional information can be found in his Google ScholarORCID  and ResearchGate profiles.

He has been a visiting researcher at the Imperial College London (UK) and University of Pennsylvania (USA) in 2014 and 2015, respectively. From 2013-2016 he was a predoctoral researcher at the Public University of Navarra (Spain) where he was funded by a University Teacher Training Aid (FPU Fellowship) by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. From 2016-2018 he was appointed as a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (USA).

He has been awarded as "Young Scientist of the Year" by the Spanish URSI during the XXXI Spanish Conference URSI 2016 and has received a CST University Publication Award for the best international journal publication using CST Microwave Studio (R) in 2016.

His current research is focused on Metamaterials, THz, Plasmonics, Optics and Electromagnetism.

Research

Dr. Victor Pacheco-Peña's field of expertise is focused on the design of devices using artificial electromagnetic materials (metamaterials) and periodic structures at microwave, millimeter, terahertz and optical frequencies.

His research background in metamaterials and wave-matter interaction also includes the design and demonstration of metamaterial-based antennas and lenses for sensing and imaging applications. Within the past years, his focus has been on the development of high resolution dielectric structures and metamaterial lenses applied to microscopy applications.
