Project title

Coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing based massive multiple-input, multiple-output communications

Supervisor

Project description

Massive Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) communications are an efficient technology. They improve spectral efficiency of 5G mobile networks.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) encodes data on multiple carrier frequencies. Wideband digital communications use the technology. It has many applications.

We are developing novel signal processing techniques. These will be used for coded OFDM based Massive MIMO communications. We are developing techniques for improving the performance of:

  • error correcting codes
  • channel estimations
  • signal waveforms

We will investigate communication systems in frequency and time selective multipath channels. We are doing this through simulation. We are using 5G base station facilities for channel measurements and developments.
