Project title

Optimisation of power line communication of Smart Grid

Supervisors

Project description

This project investigates the use of error coding technology and MIMO (multiple in multiple out) technology to optimise the performance of a Power Lines Communications (PLC) system.

We are using Polar code and Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) to optimise the PLC system.

At the receiver part, we are using Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) to reduce the channel fading. The performance of the PLC system can increase.

We are using a MIMO system to increase the performance of the system.

Our results show that LDPC can give a better performance on the PLC channel when compared to polar code. At the receiver part, MRC can give better performance than other equalisers.
