Walking to Work

Walking to work will cost you nothing and will strengthen your heart and muscles and can help with weight control.

Try walking to work once a week to begin with. Consult with your doctor if you are in any doubt as to your ability. If walking to work is not an option, even a walk at lunchtime can give you health benefits.

Make sure you are safe by:

  • encouraging a colleague who lives near you to try it as well
  • carrying a personal alarm
  • keeping to well lit routes
  • wearing a piece of reflective clothing
  • avoid walking on roads
